School Board Meeting- December 2014

 

This month's School Board Meeting was held on December 10th, 2014 at the SHS-Mission Room. First of all, one of the first items in the agenda was the election of the new Board Officers. We would like to congratulate Mrs. Marie Berlanga as our new School Board President, Mrs. Gloria Ledesma as our new School Board Vice-President, Mrs. Jodi Massa as our new School Board Clerk, Mr. Fabian M. Barrera as our new Trustee, and Mr. Jaime Fernandez who remains in his current position as a Trustee. Second, the update for the iPad roll out to high school students is as follows: January 6th for Seniors and Juniors, January 7th for Sophomores and Freshmen. More information will be released as the dates approaches. The plan for a new middle school in the Soledad School District remains intact. This new middle school would incorporate students in grades 6, 7, and 8. The district is continuing with their effort to plan accordingly in order for the school to be a success. Additionally, Soledad High School’s Student of the Month for December was Epifanio (Epi) Rios. Epi is active in three sports throughout the school year: cross country, soccer, and track. Due to his continuous hard-work and dedication, as he maintains a 3.8 GPA, he was honored with the award. He recently got the opportunity to run at State level. Lastly, the school board also revised the Student Handbook and is now allowing students to use their cellular devices during nutrition and lunch breaks.
